Day 4: it’s amore

Today I got to spend some quality one on one time with one of my favorite people in the whole world, my Hayleigh Grace. She is sweet and smart and silly and just so happened to be the one that made me a Mommy. This girl does things to my heart. Today I drove her on her second ever field trip to a pizza shop. Watching her was almost an out of body experience. How in the world is the little baby who grew inside of me, who babbled and drooled, who toddled around our living room now the same girl who is old enough to go on field trips?! It was one of those “oh my goodness, I am mom!” moments. I remember my mom driving for my field trips. How am I driving my daughter on hers?! My life really is a dream come true and I am so thankful.

I am so proud of the person that God has made Hayleigh to be. She amazes me everyday by her insights, her deep thinking, her imagination and her compassion for others. It is pretty stinkin’ awesome that she is my kid and I get to spend time with her every single day. Today was extra special because it was just us, well and her class…and her teacher…and all the other moms who came along…and a whole lot of gluten. But you know what I mean. Today I am thankful for some one-on-one time with my first baby who will always hold a very unique place in my heart. (Side note: Hey God, how come you aren’t getting back to me on those prayers to slow down time and pause my kids right where they are? I am still waiting on that one…)

Pontillos did an amazing job with the kids! They made quite a nice pizza with serious toppings (as you can see) and the workers were so sweet with the kids. It was such a fun time even if I spent part of the time lusting after real pizza and reminiscing about the good ol’ gluten-y goodness of real pizza.
